Adam Lambert sparks fear in American Idol producers.

On Tuesday night, the nine remaining American Idol contestants sang Elvis Presley hits while being mentored under the tutelage of last year's runner-up Lambert.

And on Wednesday night, Lambert will be taking over the Idol stage and producers worry that he could be a loose canon.

The Advocate reports that there is high tension leading up to Lambert's upcoming performance of "Whataya Want From Me" Wednesday night.

According to Popeater, an insider said that the American Idol big wigs are afraid of a repeat performance of what Lambert did at last year at the American Music Awards, where he simulated sex and kissed a male member of his band. The insider claims that the producers are confident that Lambert will stick to their rules, however, they are taking no chances and making sure they have a 3-second delay on the live show, just in case he goes rogue.

American Idol producers have even issued strict instructions to their star alum and sources told Popeater that another source of contention was that Lambert didn't want to perform in front of the judges, but reportedly, the judges will not be moved to make way for Lambert.
