Belgian singer Yasmine was found dead on Thursday near her sister’s home after taking her own life. The singer debuted 18 years ago with the album ‘Mooi zo’ (Beautiful That Way) and went on to make many more albums, including a compilation of poetry set to music, released last February.

She was one of the hosts of the television entertainment magazine ‘De rode loper’ for seven years and was a long-time DJ for Radio Donna.

Yasmine was an out lesbian, and had married Marianne Dupon, a Belgian celebrity who was known as the winner of the reality TV show De Mol  (The Mole). The two were married in August of 2003 and together they have one daughter, two year old Ella-Louise. The couple divorced in April 2009.
