The Irish chanteuse, who made headlines last week for marrying her boyfriend of two months in a Pink Cadillac in Vegas, is releasing her ninth studio album How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? on February 21, 2012. Sinead O’Connor is in the news again, and this time it’s because of what she does best – making amazing music. The Irish chanteuse, who made headlines last week for marrying her boyfriend of two months in a Pink Cadillac in Vegas -- according to Us-- is releasing her ninth studio album How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? on February 21, 2012. And two of the tracks, “4th and Vine” and “Take off Your Shoes,” are now available for a listen here.

Since her arresting debut album The Lion and the Cobra in 1987, O’Connor has continued to record thoughtful music that compels people to listen even if, at times, she’s offended some with her unapologetic political views.

For How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? O’Connor re-teams with producer John Reynolds for a collection of “songs about love and loss, hope and regret, pain and redemption, anger and justice,” according to a release. “This is an album of consistently moving, exciting, brilliant and beautiful songs built around Sinead’s voice at its very best – raw and passionate.”

Meanwhile, prior to the release of her new record, O’Connor can be heard in the film Albert Nobbs singing the lullaby “Lay Your Head Down." Producer and star of the film Glenn Close also wrote the lyrics for the song, which was composed by Bryan Byrne, according to the LA Times.
