A teacher from Butler County, Ohio, resigned over an issue that ensued from her having taken four of her high school cheerleaders on a field trip to a gay dance club.
Lori Epperson, a teacher at Edgewood High School in Trenton--where the mascot is a cougar -- admitted she took the girls to Club Masque in Dayton, but says she received parental permission. Her daughter is among the girls that went.
The group of cheerleaders and their teacher drank while there, resulting in the girls becoming intoxicated. Epperson claimed their intoxication was the result of encountering an acquaintance at the club, who then bought shots of liquor and Cosmopolitans for the group.
According to Advocate.com, the cheerleaders are high school seniors, all 17 or 18 years old. The club’s website states patrons must be at least 18 to enter and 21 to drink.
Criminal charges have not yet been filed, but the incident is under investigation.
