Naya Rivera's Santana Among Graduating Seniors On 'Glee'

Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), the resident lesbian high schooler on Fox's hit musical show Glee, will be sporting a cap and gown at graduation this year. She will be joining fellow McKinley High seniors Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) and Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) in leaving the days of high school behind.

Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), the resident lesbian high schooler on Fox’s hit musical show Glee, will be sporting a cap and gown at graduation this year. She will be joining fellow McKinley High seniors Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) and Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) in leaving the days of high school behind.

“I’m a senior. I guess that means I’m graduating. That’s what happens when you’re a senior! I don’t think it’s a thing,” Rivera told E! News on Friday. “It’s like, what is it when you’re in high school? You’re a senior, you graduate. Yes, I’m graduating this year.”

Santana has one major issue to deal with before she stops terrorizing the halls of McKinley: her relationship with Brittany (Heather Morris). “Either way I think it will be good. If they get together, awesome. I know there’s a bunch of fans that want that to happen,” Rivera said about the relationship that sparked in season three. “But if they don’t, then they don’t and I think that’s another thing that you can explore.”

Lesbian relationship aside, the thought of moving on from the series is an emotional one for Rivera.

“It will always be bittersweet because this is like our baby and we’ve been with it since the beginning and it’s always sad. It’s literally like the feeling of being in high school,” she told E!. “I’ve had a great run and hopefully it continues.”

There have also been rumors of a Glee spin-off that have both fans and producers spinning. Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, denies there being a spin-off in the works, but Fox executive Kevin Reilly said recently that a decision has not been made.

Rivera is unsure how well Santana would do in a spin-off.

“Hopefully she gets into some type of college, but I think she’s going to be a hot mess in college,” she said. We here at SheWired were thinking exactly the same thing.

Reilly confirmed that this season’s storylines will focus mostly on the show’s regular characters, rather than guest stars or musical tributes. Whether they get together or not, chances are good for plenty of Brittana screen time.

Here’s to Santana going out with a bang!
