When it comes to the entertainment world we lose sometimes sight of the magic within the live theater scene, but when a show comes out named War Lesbian, we tend to pay attention. But if the title alone this isn't enough incentive to check it out already, here's the synopsis of the new musical commission from Dixon Place:

"WAR LESBIAN, is a new musical based on an Inuit myth about a woman who is rejected from her family for being different and embarks upon a journey creating wars with others and within herself.  Womanhood floods the stage with impossible probabilities, ridiculous heartbreak, and absurdity in which anything, and that means anything, goes. The musical is set in a universe where Ellen DeGeneres is a demonic demi-god and digging for truths and covering up holes can cause wars."

So basically we definitely need to check this out for ourselves. This original commission features a book by Kristine Haruna Lee (who's also in the production), music by Kathryn Hathaway, direction by Jordan Fein in collaboration with harualee, and a cast of ten led by Erin Markey. War Lesbian will make its world premiere on December 5th and play for seven performances only on December 5th, 6th, 12th,13th, 19th, and 20th at 7:30PM, and December 20th at 10:00PM at Dixon Place (161 Christie Street). Tickets are $16 in advance, $18 at the door, and $12 for seniors and students. Tickets can also be purchased by visiting www.dixonplace.org. We can't wait to see what War Lesbian has in store for us.
