Good news for Jennifer Beals fans! The L Word star has landed the female lead opposite Sex and the City and Parenthood’s John Corbett in the CBS drama with the rather unfortunately-titled Widow Detective.

Corbett plays Denny Brennan, “ a decorated police detective who, after losing three partners in the line of duty, becomes surrogate husband, lover and father to their families,” according to Deadline.

And here’s where Beals comes in. She’ll play Lainey, the witty widow of one of Denny’s partner and the owner of a San Fernando Valley hair salon.

“Married again but about to be amicably divorced, Lainey knows Denny the best out of all the wives, and has the best shot at a real relationship with him,” reports Deadline.

Since The L Word’s finale in 2009 Beals has been featured in arcs on Lie to Me and Castle, had the lead in the canceled The Chicago Code and has landed a role in the upcoming feature Lord of Vinyl.
