Hundreds of New Yorkers struck a pose in silent protest of the gay marriage ban on Monday afternoon in NYC's Empire Hotel.
Autostraddlereports that the widespread grassroots campaign NOH8 organized the photo shoot, which was the first in the east coast. Until now, photo shoots were held in Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs.

Bouska and NOH8 held a 6-hour open shoot and over 500 New Yorkers showed up to be photographed in white T's and duct tape. Many participants at Monday's NYC photo shoot heard about it through Facebook, Twitter, or by word-of-mouth.
When Proposition 8 passed in California in November 2008 reinstating the ban on same-sex marriage, celebrity photographer Bouska and his partner, Jeff Parshley, formed NOH8 in Los Angeles as a form of photographic silent protest.
According to Manhattan's DNAinfo.com, there was a lone protestor outside of the hotel citing Bible passages in support of his view that same-sex marriage is wrong.

Pall Gale of Chelsea had his own opinion about the Bible-quoting protestor, "I think if Jesus was here he'd have [a NOH8 tattoo] on his face as well," Gale told DNA.
Notable celebrities and politicians: Jane Lynch, Kathy Griffin, Cindy McCain, Meghan McCain, Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz, Marlee Matlin, and Isaiah Washington have all posed for the campaign.
