In the summer of 2012 Mitch Kitter and Shalem Mathew started the Love is Love project. During the first stage of the project they photographed 28 LGBT families and couples from all over Alaska. Throughout the project filmmaker April Frame recorded video, interviewed couples, and compiled a video that is sure to leave you misty eyed. Check out a preview of the film on the last page.
During their gallery opening on October 5, 2012, over 760 Alaskans came to show their support for the project, and the beautiful couples. Shortly after the show in 2013 Senator Lisa Murkowski announced her support for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and sent them a note about the project.
Help Mitch and Shalem bring "More Love to More People" as they create a photo book featuring LGBT couples and families across America. This year they will take the Love is Love project on the road out of Alaska, visiting states such as Utah, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
If they reach their goal they will photograph couples in the Midwest in May 2014, and if they reach their secondary goal they will photograph the couples both in the Midwest in May 2014 and the South in November 2014.
Check it out their campaign on Kickstarter to help make the dream real.
