Star Wars: The Force Awakens blasted into our lives last December, shattering box office records, winning over fans and critics and introducing the world to one of the best sci-fi heroes ever, Rey. Oh, yeah, and she happens to be a kick-ass woman.
Well, the trailer for the first Star Wars spin-off film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, dropped today and boy, oh boy (pun intended), we are in for a treat! First we had Daisy Ridley's Rey, and now we get Felicity Jones's Jyn Erso. (Side note: How awesome is the name "Jyn"?) And based on this trailer, Jyn has no problem throwing some shade! We also get a glimpse of Rebel leader Mon Mothma (first introduced in Return of the Jedi and seen briefly in Revenge of the Sith). As Beyonce would say, "Who runs the [galaxy]? Girls!"
It's also important to note the wonderfully diverse cast supporting our intrepid lead — after all, it's a pretty big galaxy out there!
Kudos to Kathleen Kennedy and all the amazing men and women at Disney and Lucasfilm for giving us films that include great characters, regardless of age, gender or race.
