Rumors about Disney's latest adaptation are picking up.

Rumors about a live-action take on Disney’s Hercules have been swirling in recent days, with claims that Taron Egerton and Ariana Grande are the top choices to lead the film.

CBR reports that “trusted scooper Daniel Richtman” made the claim via his Patreon, and it didn’t take long for Disney fans to spread the word.

However, this isn't the first time Egerton has been name-dropped as the potential frontrunner for Hercules. Giant Freakin Robot made a similar claim back in January, albeit without mention of Grande.

Director Guy Ritchie initially expressed hope that a live-action Hercules could be completed by the end of this year, although that seems all but impossible now with the joint WGA/SAG strikes currently taking place and presumably no cast locked in for production to begin as soon as the strikes resolve.

Not much else is known about the film, even through the rumor mill, except that producer Joe Russo said that they took into consideration what an audience trained up on TikTok would expect from a modern musical when adapting the project.

Whether that ends up involving Egerton or Grande remains to be seen, as the rumors have yet to be confirmed. But that hasn’t stopped fans from having strong opinions about both casting choices.
