Watch Live: Minnesota Senate Debates Marriage Ban

Watch live as the Minnesota senate debates a same-sex marriage ban. They will vote Wednesday, and likely approve, a ballot measure for 2012 that seeks to ban marriage equality in the state constitution. “The vote scheduled for Wednesday would put the proposal half way toward the November 2012 ballot, where a majority vote would enact it. The House, which like the Senate is controlled by Republicans, is expected to follow suit,” according to the AP.

The Minnesota senate will vote Wednesday, and likely approve, a ballot measure for 2012 that seeks to ban marriage equality in the state constitution.

According to the Associated Press, “The vote scheduled for Wednesday would put the proposal half way toward the November 2012 ballot, where a majority vote would enact it. The House, which like the Senate is controlled by Republicans, is expected to follow suit.”

Gov. Mark Dayton, a Democrat, has no power to block proposed constitutional amendments under Minnesota law, which means a measure approved by the legislature would head directly to voters for consideration.
