Girl Friends and Frenemies: If TV Were Gayer...

Whether it's that undeniable connection between best friends or that underlying spark of sexual tension between girl rivals who have an unadulterated loathing for each other, one thing about these TV girl couples is for sure-they've got chemistry, and they're just one sleepover away from realizing it. Here are some fantasy lesbian best friends including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eliza Dushku, Evangeline Lily, Elizabeth Mithchell, Mary Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins and more...

Whether it's that undeniable connection between best friends or that underlying spark of sexual tension between girl rivals who have an unadulterated loathing for each other, one thing about these TV girl couples is for sure-they've got chemistry, and they're just one sleepover away from realizing it -- at least they are in my mind. These TV girls from the past and present would look so good together, if only every show could be like The L Word.

One Tree Hill

Sophia Bush and Hilary Burton's Brooke and Peyton have been best friends since third grade. . Whether it's Peyton joining the cheerleading squad for Brooke, or Brooke defending Peyton when she's accused of being a lesbian  -- if only they continued with THAT storyline -- they endure. And despite the boy drama, Brooke's clothing line, Clothes Over Bros says it best-- their friendship is stronger than any relationship with the guys.

Gossip Girl

East coast socialites Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) know a thing or two about love and hate. The opening of Gossip Girl had these girls at each other's throats when prodigal child Serena returned from her unknown absence. Despite their ups and downs, it didn't take long for the girls to reconcile their relationship when they needed each other the most. Now, even in her busiest of moments, Blair would drop anything for her S.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

The gold star of girls with chemistry goes to Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Faith (Eliza Dushku). Initially, the hot duo were bitter rivals -- who wouldn't being vampire slayers?  -- but eventually the pair joined forces and became Sunnydale's resident bad girls. If only Buffy's ex didn't come back from hell, these two would have given resident gays Willow (Allison Hannigan) and Tara (Amber Benson) a run for their money.

Lost

Although Kate Austen and Juliet Burke (Evangeline Lily and Elizabeth Mitchell) are at odds on the island of Lost fighting over Jack Shepard, the mysterious Kate and Juliet enjoy some undeniable sparks! And a lesbian storyline wouldn't be a stretch for Mitchell considering her unforgettable role opposite Angelina Jolie in Gia and since her character on ER became cranky lesbian doc Kerry Weaver's (Laura Innes)  coming out affair. Besides, the poll doesn't lie.

So what if they're stepsisters? These polar opposites unknowingly found themselves stuck under the same roof when their single parents met on a cruise and joined forces. Resident popular girl Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb) and leader of the misfits Sam McPhearson (Carly Pope) were forced to coexist with one another on the short-lived series Popular. At one point in the series, Brooke mentioned that she was "thinking about" an attraction to girls. If only the writers knew what they were doing and kept going with it! Their rivalry and  tensions offered the perfect Greg and Marcia Brady stepsibling sexual tension that could hardly be denied.

ALIAS

Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) did not have the best time waking up from her two-year absence to find her former love interest Michael Vaughn engaged to the Senator's daughter Lauren Reed (Melissa George). Feeling the bad vibes from the blonde who replaced her, Sydney and Lauren exchanged tension-filled arguments and disagreement that had them always about 2 seconds away from either beating the crap out of each other or getting it on.

The Hills

Even in my world of gay, The Hills is uber heterosexual, but let's just pretend for a moment that in my wildest dreams it could be. Best friends Lauren and Lo made it out of their Laguna Beach digs and were reunited in the big city of Los Angeles. So maybe the do-gooder blondes look kind of like the same person, Lo has -- to date --been one of the few people who have yet to make Lauren cry. Besides, now they're roommates, and it would make for a perfect (and convenient) scenario.

Friends

This has been the great debate amongst my friends for weeks now. Monica and Rachel? Rachel and Phoebe? Phoebe and Monica? Friends successfully created a perfectly undividable friend trifecta. Monica and Rachel made for the perfect story being friends from high school and meeting up again years later -- Monica a hundred pounds lighter. But, Phoebe and Rachel did kiss that one time. But Monica and Phoebe enjoy that perfect compliment of opposite personalities thing. Solution? Threesome. A polyamorous relationship maybe?

Weeds

Suburban housewives on Weeds Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) and Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins) began with an antagonistic relationship given Nancy's business pot-selling practice and Celia's dedication to crusade against drugs. Yet the two forged a friendship. At one point, Celia followed in her 11-year-old's self-proclaimed lesbianism footsteps and considered she might be a bit Sapphic herself. She even asked Nancy  to make out with her to help get to the bottom of her girl-on-girl questioning. With the season premiere quickly approaching, maybe its not too late to rekindle this new storyline.

How I Met Your Mother

These two may be busy with boys on How I Met Your Mother but let's not forget Allison Hannigan's very gay past as Willow .  And Cobie Smulders made a memorable guest spot on The L Word as Leigh Ostin, local artist and Bette's flirting object early on in season 2. Together Lily and Robin could reignite their gayness from another lifetime and make for a hot on screen couple. Robin would definitely be the butch.

Are there other girl / girl relationships out there on TV that would make the perfect couple? We want to hear your fantasy pairings!
