The pop superstar called out TMZ after the publication released a new "documentary" about her.

Even though Britney Spears’ life has changed dramatically post-conservatorship, one thing remains the same: tabloids will always use her for a story.

Tabloid news outlet TMZ recently premiered a new “documentary” titled TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom, which details Spears’ life after the end of the cruel conservatorship that took away her control of her own personal, financial, and medical decisions.

But the pop icon is not one to take things lying down. She shot back at TMZ on Instagram with a long post detailing her frustration with the “conniving and foolish” tabloid news organization.

Although Spears doesn’t call out the documentary by name, it seems clear that’s what she’s referencing in the post.

“Considering what happened to me during the conservatorship and how hard I work everyday to be a better person since it’s been over! The concern and just effort on TMZ’s part of being the trashiest news channel for news!”

Her conservatorship came to an end in 2021, after having her rights stripped away 13 prior and giving her father Jamie Spears control of her career decisions, finances, and even personal health decisions such as what medications to take.

The Grammy award winner quipped that she’s “flattered” by all of the attention, writing, “These men who I have no idea who they are, are talking about me as if they have any right at all to do so!”

Although Spears has garnered intense scrutiny from the media since she broke onto the music scene in 1998 with the release of the massive hit “...Baby One More Time,” she expressed worry that people might believe TMZ. “The media has always been cruel to me and most people probably wouldn’t even comment on it but I do think some people might believe this and I care!”

Spears went on to reveal her disappointment that her father wasn’t acting as her protector, “My dad was supposedly the one who was supposed to protect my mind and heart from things of this matter but he was the main one who was secretly loving it!”

Then on a lighter note, she teased that her eagerly-awaited memoir, which was first announced in 2022. “I think some people are wanting to hear my story … either through a book or what have you?” she wrote. “I’ve had to stop a couple of times! It may take me a year, maybe longer who knows … to share my story!”

Spears ended her post with some words of wisdom from her great grandmother: “People come here for two reasons … either for a lesson or a blessing and she said ‘Dear sweetheart the real key to happiness is to forget every fucking thing that ever happened!” It’s a new day y’all!”

Aside from the “Toxic” singer’s Instagram post, the hashtag #TMZBlockParty was trending on Twitter with fans blocking the media giant in honor of the beloved singer.
