Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes is no stranger to a thirst trap but his latest escapade has his fan base in meltdown mode.

On Christmas Day, Mendes posted a video of him stripping down to his underwear and jumping facedown into a freezing cold river. "Merry Christmas," the 24-year-old captioned the video on Instagram.

The clip shows Mendes walking up to an icy river in boots, a sweater, and his underwear. He then takes off the boots and sweater and works up the courage to wade in. He dips into the current face down for some reason, but it gives the camera a great view of his... assets.

The video quickly went viral for the obvious, thirstiest of reasons. It currently has over 2 million likes on Instagram and is popping up all over social media.

Fans are in shambles.

"Can take the boy outta Canada but can’t take the Canada outta the boy," Nash Grier wrote in the comments. "BLUE BALLS. LITERALLY," commented singer-songwriter and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder.

And Twitter is another level of thirsty.

Mendes is an LGBTQ+ ally, even urging his Floridian fans to call their senators and shut down the state's Don't Say Gay bill earlier this year. He's been forced to shut down speculation surrounding his sexuality over and over again throughout the years of his career and has only publicly dated women.

"There was a desperation for me to come out as being gay, which is such a ridiculous thing," he said in 2020. "I got upset because I know people who are gay who haven’t come out yet and I know the suffering they experience because of that. It’s just completely ignorant and insensitive of people to be on that sh*t."
