Olympic diver Tom Daley, his husband Dustin Lance Black, and their son, Robbie, visited the White House this past weekend for the National Portrait Gallery's Struggle For Justice exhibition.

A portrait of Black, pained by Louis Briel, was included in the art show and the family celebrated on Instagram.

“When I was a teen, my mom used to drop me off on her way into work to explore the @smithsonian museums in DC," wrote Black. "I could never have imagined back then taking my husband and son to see my portrait hanging on these esteemed walls. Good to be home.”

The exhibition sought to celebrate "just a few of the countless citizens who have worked to advance the status of women; racial and ethnic minorities; LGBTQ+ individuals; and persons with physical and intellectual differences. Their triumphs have recast the contours of society and paved the way for the ongoing efforts to bring equal opportunity to all.”

Black is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and LGBT rights activist who wrote the film Milk.

Daley celebrated the moment with an Instagram carousel of his own captioned, "An evening at the White House!" In it, you can see Daley running around in black leather pants and Doc Martens boots.

It's a beautiful family moment, visiting a historical place. In a moment when LGBTQ+ people are under enormous threat from the increasingly radicalized right, it's a meaningful symbol of how far we have come.

But also, can we talk about the pants and that he did this all while bringing leather daddy realness to the White House? This is the gay agenda in pants form and we love to see it.

And we're not the only one.

RuPaul's Drag Race star Willam commented on the posts, "c’mon forefathers!" Others celebrated a different accomplishment. “Congrats on possibly being the first person to wear leather pants there. ” wrote one fan. “Thank u for wearing platform docs for the community. I would’ve done the same,” said another.
