Tabatha Coffey Rails Against Indiana Republican House Bill to Deregulate the Beauty Industry

A Republican proposal to eliminate the need for licensing of hair dressers and other service providers is "the most fucking stupid thing" Tabatha Coffey says she's ever seen — and she's seen a lot.

The lesbian star of Tabatha Takes Over on Bravo normally invades a salon on the verge of collapse and reinvigorates it with her style of no-excuses management, leaving the formerly failing owner with a renewed outlook. She often emphasizes the need for proper education of stylists.

Coffey posted a video on YouTube today calling for help in defeating House Bill 1006, which will be considered by the Employment Labor and Pensions Committee at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

“Regulations are killing small business,” said Indiana Republican Rep. David Wolkins in theIndianapolis Business Journalexplaining why he's sponsoring the bill. It would not only eliminate licensing for hair cutters and cosmetologists but also for dieticians, private investigators and security guards.

Coffey is known for speaking her mind. And she doesn't hold back in her short web video.

"What they are actually saying in the bill is that there isn't that much risk to the services we provide, and we really don't need any governing body to make sure we get trained adequately before we do that job," Coffey said, "and I'm here to tell you that is the most fucking stupid thing that I have ever heard."
