The world learned two new facts about Rachel Maddow last night when she appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman.
1. She can't feel her hands right now. As you may remember, the spectacled brainy lady turned 40 on Monday, prompting her to try something new: boxing.
2. Our beloved Rachel -- an Emmy award-winning role model, mixologist, and America's favorite female nerd -- with all of her success and intelligence feels just as insecure as anyone else.
“I have grave insecurities about everything,” Maddow said. “I still have that feeling that I’m a criminal taking some other more deserving person’s television show every night.”
But not only now. Even when she was an undergrad at one of the country's top universities, Stanford! But, being as awesome as she is, she decided to turn that weakness into Wonder Woman-strength.
“That’s my superpower — I never fit in and that forces me to struggle out of insecurity in a way that sometimes results in success.”
For those not playing along at home, she also gave an excellent primer on what all the gay commotion was at the Supreme Court last week, as well as what's going on with gun control laws these days. Watch her break down DOMA with Letterman:
