Following the release of his debut album Montero, Lil Nas X has released a cover of Dolly Porter's "Jolene" for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Going back to his debatably country roots a la "Old Town Road", X's acoustic rendition of the iconic song even keeps all the original's pronouns. There's something undeniably queer hearing "Jolene, I'm begging of you please don't take my man" from a male point of view.

Miley Cyrus, who has previously covered the track and is featured on X's album in "Am I Dreaming", congratulated the rapper. "When legends cover legends! 1st Dolly Parton?! And now YOU’RE covering me ?!?!?!" she wrote on Instagram alongside the hashtag #DontLeaveYourKidsWithMiley.

Dolly Parton herself even commented on the cover. "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song #Jolene," the legend tweeted. "I had to find it and listen to it immediately…and it's really good. Of course, I love him anyway. I was surprised and I'm honored and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @LilNasX."

X then responded to Parton in the best way.
