Alyson Hannigan, who ruled '90s airwaves as lesbian superwitch Willow Rosenberg on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the infamous Band Camp veteran Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie films, spoke fondly of the lesbian fans she hopes she's acquired in an interview with HuffPost Live.

"I was so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful relationship," Hannigan, 39, said of Willow and her fellow witch partner Tara, one of the first lesbian couples portrayed on primetime, network TV. "The people that it's touched that I've met ... it's such a gift to have been able to do that."

Responding to a surprisingly negatively toned question from the interview about whether her role as Willow earned her any lesbian fans, the How I Met Your Mother star made clear that she's happy to have queer women on her side.

"Does it mean you have a lesbian following now, though, as a result of it?" asked the interviewer.

"Well, I mean, I hope so!" replied Hannigan. "I would feel like a failure if I didn't."
