If you haven’t figured it out yet, we’re real real here at Pride.com, and will openly admit that all we want to do on weeknights is Netflix and chill with our baes. We’re not even embarrassed. In fact, we’re going to share with you our favorite TV Shows to Netflix & chill to. Although this list is not limited to lesbian-centric shows, there’s a good amount of shows where we get that need filled :)
If you’re hoping to enjoy something queer:
Not hard to figure out why you should watch this show with your girl. It’s a fucking classic.
The Real L Word
If you both are interested in watching reality TV, lesbians, and some soft-core sex scenes. A little for everyone!
Lip Service
This is the English (BBC) version of The L Word, which doesn’t get enough acclaim for it’s intrigue. This show was canceled early, and bummed out all lesbians worldwide.
Orange Is The New Black
Another obvious show to Netflix & chill to, even if you’ve both already seen them all. Rewatching them is just as magical. Plus, you learn/see/notice more!
Orphan Black
If you have the special login for premium cable:
Game Of Thrones
If you aren’t already addicted, get ready to be. This show is easier to watch with others, and you can bond over your confusion about how to pronounce names until you’re the masters of Westoros and all the other GoT cities.
Shameless
This show is set in urban Chicago and has a standout cast. This is the kind of show people will always talk about and always love, but it will never reach the fame it deserves.
True Blood
For those viewers who like fantasy shows, True Blood will always be the classic (and most badass) depiction of vampires ever.
Nurse Jackie
A nurse addicted to painkillers who also happens to be the best ER nurse in the entire nursing staff at a busy NYC emergency room. What’s not to like?
United States Of Tara
US of Tara stars Toni Colette as a woman with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), who has a team of crazy alter egos whom her family members (husband, daughter, son and sister) all know very well, and maintain relationships with.
Girls
It’s obvious that Lena Dunham has figured out how to speak to the millennial generation, and everyone secretly loves to hate every character on this show.
Dexter
In case you were wondering if it’s possible to feel positively about a serial killer, you obviously haven’t watched Dexter yet.
Californication
David Duchovny is arguably the most likable douche bag anyone has ever encountered. Especially with how he handles his ex wife, only daughter, and crazy friends in LA.
If you are feeling nostalgic about old television:
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
No need to tell you why you should watch this. You already know.
Charmed
A supernatural classic that offers magic, sisterly drama and love, and lots of complicated relationships from the ‘90s. Plus, there’s so much good fashion.
Friday Night Lights
Entering into the world of high school football might not seem like the backbone of a wonderful show, but it is and you should give it a try.
Arrested Development
The Bluthe family will not only make you feel better about your family, but also make you fall in love with every single family member.
Gossip Girl
Probably the most addictive cable show of the early 2000s, and it's full of amazing (now dated) fashion.
Twin Peaks
A pretty slow, quiet and mellow show that is spooky, hilarious, and amazing all at once. Easy to cuddle up to, easy to clean your apartment to, easy to make out to.
The OC
Not only could this technically fall into the queer category (let’s not forget Marisa’s relationship with Alex), but it’s an oldie, full of early 2000s fashion, and it’s amazing.
In case you want to see something animated:
Bob’s Burgers
If you’re really into cartoons, this show has enough heavy hitters (H. John Benjamin, Dan Mintz Kristen Schaal) to make you want to see this show, but also offers the hilarities of snarky children, a crazy east coast mom, and a burger shop in a seaside town.
Adventure Time
Definitely written by stoners with an empowering, positive message to children, and imaginative illustrations. This is a show everyone should watch.
Rick and Morty
If you’re already a fan of Adventure Time (and specifically the character Lemon Grab), you’ll likely enjoy this show, as the man who voices Lemon Grab created this show. Morty and his genius scientist grandpa Rick time travel, solve crazy futuristic problems, and get into less than PG antics.
Archer
Another H. John Benjamin show centered around a CIA-like task force called ISIS (ya, they need to rename it), where Archer works with his mom, his ex-girlfriend, and a wimpy guy who’s now dating his ex. Plus he’s an alcoholic, prostitute lover, and fan of drugs. It’s definitely an adult cartoon.
Have fun, enjoy your bae, and don't stay up too late :)
