Angry Dad Steals GSA Poster From Daughter's School
This is some Scooby-Doo villain nonsense.
What do you do when you see something you don’t like?
Steal it!
At least that’s the reaction one father in Columbia, Missouri had when he found out his daughter’s middle school allowed posters from the GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) to hang on school walls.
So when he went into the school for a parent-teacher conference, he snatched one of the posters down and ran out of the school with it, school officials chasing behind him as he went.
“I think that parents that want to have this conversation with their children should, in the home,” the angry father, Ken Allen, said. "I think that just like certain other topics, such as religion and Christianity, that perhaps the school, in and of itself, should not be the proper place for this conversation.”
On Monday, Allen attended a board meeting for the school district and accused the school of breaking the law by allowing the club to put posters up around the school.
"He was giving me information about how that's verbal sexual harassment, and it's against the law for them to be doing that," his daughter Summer told ABC 17.
The school district maintains that a poster for an extracurricular activity does not fall under the state law requiring schools to notify parents of the content of any human sexuality instruction so they may be removed if a parent wishes.
Though Allen is the one who actually broke the law in this scenario, the school has opted not to press charges against Allen for the theft of the sign.
And hopefully by now the Smithson Middle School GSA has put up at least ten more posters.
