Aubrey Plaza Shares Hilarious Details From Her Failed SNL Audition

Just ahead of her debut appearance on Saturday Night Live, Aubrey Plaza stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to share the story of her initial audition for the sketch comedy show.
The White Lotus star auditioned for the show "back in the day" at UCB. “I didn’t make it to the Lorne [Michaels] audition, the famous final audition, but I did a preliminary first-round showcase,” she began.
Plaza explains to Fallon the characters she did for the audition. “I remember one character I did was like a Puerto Rican news reporter that was always trying to make all of the stories sexy, even if they were horrific news stories. I was just trying to sex up the news or something. The other one, I was a pill-popping housewife that had my own talk show called Celebri-Tails where I would just name celebrities and say what kind of tail they would have if they had a tail. Like I would say, ‘Lindsay Lohan would have a bushy squirrel’s tail.’ Or, ‘Bill Clinton would have a polar bear’s nub.' Or, 'Oprah Winfrey would have a dragon's,' just stuff like that.”
Fallon laughs as Aubrey points out, "Anyway, I didn't get on the show."
All those years ago, Plaza was an NYU student and a page at 30 Rock where Saturday Night Live and many other shows are filmed. As a tour guide, Plaza has confessed to regularly making up stories to tell visiting tourists. She also interned with the set design team on SNL.
Talk about a full-circle moment.
Plaza will host Saturday Night Live this weekend on NBC on January 21. She will be joined by musical guest Sam Smith for the first show of 2023.

Yes, Plaza had a stroke at 20-years-old in 2004 when she was a film student at NYU.
Apparently, Plaza had a blood clot in her brain which led to her stroke. Since the only thing Plaza had in her system were her birth control pills, perhaps they caused the clot.
Reportedly, yes! The two Parks and Recreation stars who played the beloved couple April and Andy are still friends.
