Meanwhile, Keke Palmer and Usher had fun with this situation by collaborating on a new song titled “Boyfriend.”

“Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me / He should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.”

In recent weeks, Keke Palmer was involved in a major controversy after her then-boyfriend Darius Jackson had a jealous meltdown about the Nope star attending Usher’s Las Vegas residency concert and being serenaded by him on stage. For the record, Usher serenades women every single night at his residency, and it just so happened that Palmer was the celebrity guest of that particular show.

Not only did Jackson express his jealousy about his girlfriend being serenaded by Usher, but he also criticized Palmer’s dress and suggested that it wasn’t an appropriate attire for a mother. On Wednesday, August 16, People confirmed that Palmer and Jackson have officially broken up after that incident… and we’re here to celebrate that our queen has been released from this clearly toxic relationship.

This news comes on the heels of Usher releasing a new song, “Boyfriend,” in collaboration with Palmer. The actress is the inspiration for the song, was featured in the cover art, and appears in the music video alongside the R&B superstar. And no, there’s nothing going on between them – they are clearly just two adults having a laugh over an insecure person’s ridiculous jealousy.

According to a source that spoke to People, Jackson “has moved on” from his relationship with Palmer ever since the Usher drama came to the surface. Alas, he is still committed to co-parenting his son with Palmer, with this source noting that “you don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents.”

Even though Palmer didn’t publicly react to Jackson’s initial statements, she promptly started to sell “I’m a motha” merch on her official website, which was a clear clapback to her then-boyfriend’s accusations. Now, her collaboration with Usher is another way to subtly have fun with the situation and speak her mind without having to address anything directly to the press.

Keke Palmer is proving yet again why we all love her so much. You have to stan!
