Sweet Indie Spirit dreams are made of this.
2016 Film Independent Spirit Award hosts Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani took an opportunity during their stint on Saturday to make the world a better place with a Carol parody that's so perfect we can't stop rewatching it (and will forever be calling future dates "glove lunches").
Kate and Kumail's sketch lovingly digs into the film, with Kate mastering an impersonation of Cate Blanchett's Oscar-nominated portrayal of "Freaking Lesbian" Carol Aird and Kumail playing an increasingly confused waiter. Even better is the addition of Rooney Mara, who manages to star as Therese thanks to the magic of special effects, which maybe have never been better utilized.
Throw in several hilarious, wildly detailed Carol references and two of the best cameos you could hope for, and you get a lesbian extravaganza that's not to be missed. Watch right here:
Ultimately, out of its six nominations Carol only walked away with one award for Best Cinematography. But hey, at least we got this glorious and useful gif reaction:
Bon appétit!
