Pastor David H. Grisham has called on his ministry to boycott the city of Houston by imposing economic sanctions on the city for electing lesbian mayor Annise Parker and for allowing Planned Parenthood to build a clinic in the city, reports the Advocate.
According to his website, BoycottHouston, Grisham writes, "Both of these actions are an abomination in the eyes of God and should be boldly confronted by Christians seeking to preserve life and decency in the state of Texas."
"This has nothing to do with personality and everything to do with principle," the site says. "Any openly homosexual person elected into a major public office, by their very election, brings with them a radical agenda."
On his ministry's web site, Grisham called Senior Pastor Joel Osteen's support of Parker's election "one of the greatest offenses against decency." Osteen's congregation, Houston-based Lakewood Church, is the largest Christian congregation in the nation.
Grisham's site features a list of ways one can contribute to the boycott and inflict "economic sanctions" on the city, which includes not vacationing in Houston-who needs those big, yummy Texas-size burgers anyway? He also suggests not watching sporting events that with teams from Houston-as if we even care for the Rockets! And Grisham, in his cleverness, highly suggests if you don't have the superhuman ability to avoid layovers at Houston's airport, then be sure you are not looking for Cosmo magazine or a quick gin and tonic because this rare bird suggests we should all "spend no money at the airport."
Grisham's tyrannical web site says other events his super-human group boycotts include LGBT Pride events, Earth Day celebrations, Planned Parenthood, the Race for the Cure, opening day of public schools, spring break events, Halloween events, "demonically based concerts," and cuddling baby kittens. Ok, so I made that last part up.
