We salute you Danica!

During the opening ceremonies for the Virginia House of Delegates' 2018 session, Danica Roem, the first openly transgender US legislator, was sworn into her new position.

"We won because I am a transgender woman...because of my inherent identifiers, not despite them...I championed them," Roem said after her victory back in November of 2017.

When asked about her campaign rival and known anti-LGBT Republican, Bob Marshall, she replied: "I don’t attack my constituents. Bob is my constituent now."

Roem's campaign focused on infrastructure and jobs, outweighing the issues of her competitor during her race. But Danica's identity, talent, and grace ended up gaining her a big win for her political career.

We can't wait to see where Danica will take her state and how she changes the political climate for the better!
