The summer of 2013 will go down in history as the Lesbian Summer of Love, with no fewer than 10 lady couples gracing the small screen at once. We asked you to vote for your favorite summer couple, and you fans galvanized, organized, and threw your support behind your beloved twosomes. And now we have a winner!
However, the Big Lesbian Summer of Love TV Poll was fraught with controversy. Because we offered multiple choices with no cap on how often you could vote, certain couples pulled ahead of others by the thousands. We were accused of voter fraud, gerrymandering, voter suppression, rigged machines, and allowing fans to create “bots” to vote multiple times. Well, actually only the fans creating bots part of that statement is true.
We’re not actually positive there were bots (there could have been some very ambitious fans out there with a lot of time on their hands).
Bots or no bots, when we’re able to put together a poll based on the presence of 10 lesbian couples in one short TV season on shows like The Fosters on ABC Family and Under the Dome on CBS, everybody wins!
With or without the bots, fans voted in the thousands and here are your winners!
Third Runner-Up: Emily and Paige (Pretty Little Liars)
2nd Runner-Up: Piper and Alex (Orange is the New Black)
1st Runner-Up: Cosima and Delphine (Orphan Black)
And the winner is...
WINNER: Stef and Lena (The Fosters)
