Are you one of those people who can’t be bothered by going to the gym because every time you go, you find yourself wondering, “What does one even do in a weight room?” Are you really unmotivated to work out, because it isn’t more social? Do you feel like you could afford to make some new friends?

Well guess what?! Sounds like group fitness is for you! If as an adult, you have yet to figure out that your health is pretty damn important, realize it now. You need to stay active, and if that’s only going to happen if you’re meeting new people, you should think about joining a team or taking a class!

Yoga

Stretching, meditation and a vehicle to getting a fit body all wrapped into an hour long class.

Spinning

spin

This involves a lot of leg strength, generally involves loud music, and lots of sweating. No better way to bond than to all leave dripping head to toe.

Ballet

ballet

Definitely easier if you took ballet classes as a child, but learning an art form that has been around for centuries is a great way to stay fit and be lighter and more poised on your feet.

Hip Hop

dance

You will be 5, 6, 7, 8’ing all over the dance studio, making new friends while trying to learn combos, and have some pretty fly moves to bust out whenever you find yourself at the club.

Kick Ball

Kick ball teams are super fun and easy to join. Plus, after the games, there’s usually some beer and socializing involved, making this a win-win.

Dailey Method

class

A combination of dance, yoga and pilates, Dailey Method will actually kick your ass. This is one of those classes that you’ll be sore in places you didn’t know existed..for weeks. But your ass will be looking so good after a few weeks.

Barre

barre

Ballet barre classes are different from regular ballet classes, in that they don’t focus on any dancing, but rather the conditioning that goes on at the barre. Weights are usually involved, and since it’s an awkward thing to be good at, there’s usually a lot of laughing, which is great way to open conversation with new people.

Body Sculpt

For the people who like to do hard work-outs in short bursts, body sculpt usually has a sort of boot camp feel to it. This is another pretty hard class, but it’s one that everyone suffers in together, so you bond.

Soccer

Unless you used to play, make sure to find a team that isn’t trying to compete, or else you’ll be in for quite the treat. Professional soccer players are arguably the most fit athletes out there, due to the fact that they’re sprinting up and down a HUGE field for 3 hours straight. It’s a great work out, where you’ll not only learn more about yourself and get in great shape, you’ll learn a lot about your teammates.

Pilates Reformer

pilates

Pilates reformer classes are the pilates classes that are done on the reformer machine. If you’ve never done this before, it’s definitely something that’s worth giving a try, as it’s a fun and new way to exercise. Although you’ll end up bonding with you instructor more during class, people who do pilates are some of the most social people out there. Prepare to chat!

Kick Boxing

Always a fun class to take, since you not only will get a really good sweat in, you’ll also be able to take out any anger you’ve had pent up. It’s fun to watch how good other people are, or how much they let out too.

Which classes do you take or teams have you joined? We'd love to hear about them in the comments below!
